Interviewing actress Joanna Andr

1-. How was your childhood?

My childhood was a tapestry woven with vibrant threads of love, culture, and connection. Growing up in Greece was like living inside a colorful storybook, where traditions and morals were imparted like precious heirlooms. Surrounded by an extended family that felt more like a community, and friends who became like siblings, I was immersed in a world of warmth and togetherness.

My parents, true pillars of love and guidance, sculpted the foundation of my character. Their unwavering support and nurturing nature instilled in me a strong sense of identity and values. Alongside them was my protective sister, a guardian angel who always had my back and taught me the beauty of loyalty and companionship.

Our evenings were adorned with laughter and stories as we gathered around the table for dinners. The round table wasn't just a piece of furniture; it was a hub of animated discussions, a place where opinions were shared and heard. It's where I learned the art of conversation, respect for diverse viewpoints, and the importance of staying connected.

The world outside our home was equally enchanting. The freedom to play outside was an essential part of my childhood. Exploring the neighborhood, creating imaginary worlds, and running through open spaces were the building blocks of friendships that still stand strong today.

And then there were the traditions—those magical threads that wove through the tapestry of my upbringing. From festive celebrations that painted the streets with color, to the intimate rituals that connected us to our heritage, I learned that traditions were more than just customs; they were a bridge between generations, a reminder of where we came from.

In essence, my childhood was a treasure trove of experiences that shaped me into
who I am today. Greece wasn't just a backdrop; it was a character in my story, infusing each chapter with a rich sense of culture, family, and values. Looking back, I realize how fortunate I was to have lived in a world where love was abundant, traditions were cherished, and the foundation for a meaningful life was laid brick by brick.

2. - From what age did you decide to be an actress and how did you know you had theskills to go on TV?

I embarked on my journey as an actress when I was just 20 years old. The decision wasn't something I woke up with one day, but rather a realization that had been brewing within me for years. From a young age, I found solace in the world of storytelling and imagination. I vividly remember participating in school plays and local theater, feeling an inexplicable thrill every time I stepped onto the stage.

As I entered my late teens, I couldn't ignore the persistent spark that ignited within me whenever I performed. It was as if the universe was nudging me toward my true calling. Despite my young age, I was armed with an unwavering belief in myself and my abilities. I held audacity in one hand and confidence in the other, ready to conquer any challenge that came my way.

The moment I decided to pursue acting professionally was a turning point. I recognized that while skills could be honed and developed, the foundation of my talent was innate. It was like a hidden treasure waiting to be unearthed. With each role I took on, I discovered new layers to my craft, and the thrill of being on stage or in front of a camera only deepened.

Believing in myself wasn't just a notion; it was a mantra that propelled me forward. The auditions, the rejections, and the triumphs all became part of my growth story. I knew that to grace the television screen, I needed to cultivate not only my skills but also my resilience. Every setback became an opportunity to learn, and every success a testament to my dedication.

In the end, my journey into the world of acting was not just a career choice; it was a voyage of self-discovery. At 20, I embraced the unknown with open arms, armed with my natural skills, audacity, and unshakeable self-belief. And so, my adventure as an actress began, filled with passion, determination, and an unquenchable thirst for the art of storytelling.

3. - Did your parents support you in the decision you made to be an actress?

Absolutely, my parents have been an incredible source of support throughout my journey as an actress. From the very beginning, they've always had my back on any decision I made. While my dad may have been a bit stricter, especially since he wasn't initially familiar with the world of acting, he still stood by my choices and offered his guidance.

My mum, on the other hand, has been my rock forever and continues to be that steadfast pillar of encouragement. Her unwavering belief in my dreams and her boundless optimism have been instrumental in shaping my path. With her by my side, I've always felt empowered to pursue my passion and navigate the challenges that come with the territory.

Both of my parents, each in their unique way, have provided me with a foundation of love and confidence that allows me to pursue my dreams without hesitation. Their support has not only given me the freedom to explore acting but has also reinforced the importance of believing in myself and embracing every opportunity that comes my way.

4. - What was your first appearance on the screens?

My journey into the world of screens commenced with a thrilling debut in the Greek series "The Red Sky." Sharing the screen with the talented Pihla Viitala, that experience was like stepping into a new realm of possibilities. The rush of excitement, mixed with a touch of nervousness, marked the beginning of a remarkable chapter.

Following that exhilarating introduction, I embarked on an inspiring documentary project that allowed me to venture both behind and in front of the camera. Collaborating with the esteemed director Christos Epperson, we delved into the captivating narrative of the "Battle of Crete" "The 11th Day". The opportunity to document the stories of veterans and women fighters was nothing short of humbling and awe-inspiring.

Meeting these living testaments of history was an experience that left an indelible mark on my soul. Their courage, their resilience, and their unwavering spirit became a wellspring of inspiration for my own journey. Through the lens of the camera, I captured their tales, preserving their legacy for generations to come.

With each step, I realized that my path was not just about acting; it was about storytelling in all its forms. Whether I was portraying a character on screen or uncovering the stories of real-life heroes, the essence of storytelling remained at the core.

And so, my journey had begun. From that very first appearance on the screens, I understood the power of storytelling to connect, inspire, and transform. Every role, every project, became a brushstroke in the masterpiece of my career, shaping my identity as an actress and a storyteller in a world brimming with possibilities.

Exploring this complex character helped me embrace the diversity of human emotions and motivations, ultimately enhancing my growth as an actress. You can actually catch this performance on YouTube and see the transformation for yourself!

The driving forces behind this journey have been my unwavering commitment to hard work and persistence.

Rejections, rather than dampening my spirit, have fueled me to push even harder. They've become my catalyst for embracing challenges that stretch my limits. Engaging at events has proven to be a gateway for valuable connections, allowing me to weave a network that's instrumental in my growth.

Staying grounded and humble has been a cornerstone of my approach. I've come to understand that respect, both earned and given, is a currency of immense value in the intricate world of entertainment.
