Interviewing actress Leanne Melissa Bishop
1-. How was your childhood?
I loved growing up in rural Nova Scotia, Canada. As a kid I was able to foster my imagination through playing in nature. I’m very fortunate for this.
2. - From what age did you decide to be an actress and how did you know you had theskills to go on TV?
I always wanted to be an actress, but living in a small town it never felt like something you could do as a career. I was involved in high school drama and community theatre, but it wasn’t until later in life that I moved to New York City to attend The Neighborhood Playhouse School of The Theatre and really pursue my career full time.
3. - Did your parents support you in the decision you made to be an actress?
Yes, so fortunate to have parents who believed in me.
4. - What was your first appearance on the screens?
My first appearance was in the film Focus Group Therapy.
5. - What was the role you liked the most?
It’s so hard to pick just one! But if I had to pick … Regression or The Weight of Perfection. I love flawed and multi layered characters, and this is what I played in both of these films.
6.- What do you think led you to fame?
The never give up attitude!
7-. What types of characters you would like to interpret?
Characters that are layered, characters that are real … flawed just like in life.
8-. What actresses and actors do you feel comfortable working with?
I love actors that bring their A games, have done their homework, but are ready to let go of it and live in the moment.
9-. In what other genres of art would you like to participate? (Works of theater, music, among others)
Film, TV, Theatre … let’s see what happens next!
10.- Do you have any anecdotes that have marked you in your life and as a person?
Growing up in a small town, I always loved acting but did it on the side. I actually became a CPA, still acting whenever I could. Eventually I took the plunge and moved to NYC, but I believe it’s my business background that’s made me so strong in all I do. I love creating. I act, write, produce and direct.
11.- What has been your greatest achievement?
Taking the leap, and allowing myself to change careers and embrace what I truly love, the film industry.
12.- What projects will you make next and which ones do you have in mind?
I am shooting the feature What If winter 2025 in Canada. I’m super excited to be staring opposite Lea Thompson, Kevin Pollak and Aaron Ashmore. This one is special, it’s a project I’m also writing and producing.
13.- Would you like to make a movie in Spain?
YES! Sign me up!
14.- you like spanish cinema?
Love it.
