Interviewing actor Brett Robert Culbert
1-. How was your childhood?
"My childhood was pretty normal, actually. I grew up in a small town, and it was a great place to develop a sense of community. I was always interested in stories and putting on little plays for my family.”
2-. From what age did you decide to be an actor and filmmaker and how did you know you had the skills to go on TV?
"I think the seed was planted pretty early. I loved watching movies and imagining myself in those worlds. There wasn't one defining moment, but it was a gradual realization. As for knowing I had the skills... that's an ongoing process! You learn and grow with every role. I just focused on the work and kept pushing myself."
3-. Did your parents support you in the decision you made to be an actor?
"They were supportive in their own way. They might have had some initial reservations, like most parents do, but ultimately, they encouraged me to follow my passion. My mother played a huge role in teaching me about art. She was a painter.”
4-. What was your first appearance on the screens?
"That's a good question! It might have been a small role in a student film or a commercial. I honestly can't remember the exact one, but I remember the excitement of being on set for the first time." I think maybe a Samsung Commercial?
5-. What was the role you liked the most?
"That's tough! Each role is a unique experience. I've learned something from every character I've played. The role think about often is Sammy in The Dark At The Top Of The Stairs. Was in play in college directed by the great Michael Gross. Was at Kansas State University.
6-. What do you think led you to Fame?
"I wouldn't necessarily say I've achieved 'fame' yet. I'm focused on the work, on telling stories. Any recognition is a bonus. I think hard work, dedication, and a bit of luck play a part."
7-. What types of characters you would like to interpret?
"I'm drawn to complex characters, characters with flaws and strengths. I'd love to explore more roles that challenge me and push me outside my comfort zone. Love me a great Villian.
8-. What actresses and actors do you feel comfortable working with?
"I admire so many actors. Collaboration is key, so I appreciate working with anyone who is passionate about the craft and brings their A-game."
9-. In what other genres of art would you like to participate? (Works of theater, music, among others)
"I'd love to do more theater. The live performance aspect is very appealing. I also have an interest in Directing film and plays as well.
10-. Do you have any anecdotes that have marked you in your life and as a person?
Im a child and will always be a child.
11-. What has been your greatest achievement?
"I don't know if I can pinpoint one 'greatest' achievement. I'm proud of the work I've done so far, and I'm excited for what's to come."
12-. What projects will you make next and which ones do you have in mind?
Currently wrapping up a short film I directed called Good Boy written and produced by Shadow C. LaValley. Also, I will be directing a new Series titled Haven written by Nicholas Forristal. Very excited stuff!
13-. Would you like to make a movie in Spain?
"Absolutely! I'd love to work internationally. Spain has a rich cinematic history, and it would be an amazing experience!
14-. You like Spanish cinema?
"Yes, I'm a fan of Spanish Cinema for sure! Love Luis Bunuel and
Julio Medan! Also, Pans Labyrinth is one of my all time favorite films! Would absolutely enjoy working with Guillermo Del Toro.
